Air India is India's
national standard carrier. Air transport was born in India
on February 18, 1911 when Henri Piquet, flying a Humber
bi-plane, carried post from Allahabad to Naini Junction,
some six miles left, the scheduled services in India, in
the real intellect, began on October 15, 1932.
Tata Airlines, as Air India was then
identified, consisted of one Puss Moth, one Leopard Moth,
one palm-thatched shed, one whole point pilot support by
Tata and Vintcent, one part-time engineer, two apprentice-mechanics
and unlimited optimism.
Tata Airlines was renewed into a Public
Company below the name of Air India in August 1946. End
of the year, an accord was reached with the Government of
India for the formation of Air India International Limited
to function international services.
The statement International was dropped
in 1962. Effective March 1, 1994, the airline has been implementation
as Air India Limited. Air India's worldwide system today
covers 44 destinations by operating services with its individual
aircraft and through code public flights. |
